Police Liability Webinar – Free Live For IMLA Members

January 27, 2027 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Defending AI Facial Recognition and Wrongful Arrest Claims

CLE available to Kitchen Sink Subscribers and in some cases to others but fees may apply.

This program follows a fictional Michigan federal case against a detective and a city after a facial-recognition lead contributes to a wrongful arrest. Later events are hypothetical under law researched through October 10, 2026. It examines source video, search records, contrary identity evidence, warrant omissions, qualified immunity and the city’s separate policy and training defenses.

For municipal lawyers, the discussion emphasizes tracing what each decision-maker knew, distinguishing repeated comparisons from independent corroboration, and separating individual liability from municipal causation. It also addresses lawful payment authority and verifying reforms after resolution.

Speaker: Frank Ramos
