Ordinance Drafting for Local Government Attorneys
City attorneys draft many kinds of important documents for their client – from contracts, policies and procedures, resolutions, to ordinances. This session will review the most common, basic elements of municipal ordinances. We’ll take a look at best practices for ordinance titles, legislative findings, statutorily required provisions, common boilerplate provisions, and clear and concise legislative drafting. This session will also review some of the key sources of model ordinances and useful resources for tips on legislative drafting.
