85th Annual Conference Becomes Virtual!

85th Annual Conference Becomes Virtual!

IMLA is disappointed to announce that the 2020 Annual Conference at the La Quinta Resort and Spa has been cancelled but is excited to announce that in place of our on-site event, we will be offering the Annual Conference virtually! The virtual conference will be a full virtual event with informative sessions and plenty of networking opportunities. IMLA is replicating our full conference through webinars in much the same manner as we have our other virtual events this year. We will still be offering CLE and all the great resources that our app provides, networking, materials, speaker information, etc. at a price that reflects our reduced costs in hosting an in person event.

We have been discussing the question of whether we could hold our Annual Conference in person as planned this year in La Quinta, CA. with our host committee and with officials in Riverside County. Based on the continuing spread of the Coronavirus and the likelihood that a gathering of our size would be prohibited and in looking to the advice of CDC and the efforts, both national and within California, to control social distancing to minimize community spread of the virus, we determined that cancelling the on-site program offered the best result for our members, sponsors and hosts.

Though we will miss being in California for the Annual Conference, we believe the virtual format allows for a great deal of benefits.

  • We are able to provide all member registrants with recordings of the sessions free of charge to assure the Conference fits into your schedule.
  • With the lower pricing structure we hope to be able to involve more attorneys from your office that would not ordinarily be able to attend the in-person event.
  • We have a 15 minute time-gap between sessions, giving the attendees the opportunity to take a break, get a snack or check their emails.
  • We are able to assure that you are kept a safe distance from other attendees all while still providing the networking opportunities you’ve grown to love!

We appreciate your understanding as our continue to navigate this uncertain future that COVID-19 has given us, and we sincerely appreciate the value you place in an IMLA membership!

A credit will be applied to your account for the difference in cost. These credits can be used to go toward registering a colleague*, pay membership fees, or register for a future IMLA event. If you do not wish to participate in the Virtual Conference, please contact Trina at trina@imla.org. Cancellations must have been received by August 31, 2020. 3. Will recordings be available?
IMLA Member registrations will include all session recordings at no additional cost. They will be automatically sent to Member registrants at the conclusion of the Conference. If a Non-Member wants access to the recordings after the event, they will need to add that to their registration for an additional $100.
  4. Who should I contact if I booked my hotel room already?
La Quinta Resort & Club advises us that they will cancel all room reservations that were made in the IMLA block. You will receive a confirmation email of this cancellation. If you booked outside the block or do not receive a confirmation email from the hotel, then you will need to call and cancel your room at (760) 564-4111.
  5. Can my registration for the in-person event be applied for multiple attorneys from our office to attend virtually?
Yes, the credits will go towards the new registration fee. Any difference in fee will need to be paid.
  6. How will CLE credits be issued for this conference?
For each 60 minutes in attendance/online participation, the attendee will receive 1 CLE credit hour. Instructions will be provided regarding CLE, IMLA CLE attendance codes, and submitting certificate of attendance forms for CLE credit.
  7. We noticed that recordings will be sent to member registrants at the conclusion of the Conference – does that mean that CLE credit can/will be issued after the conference if the member registrant isn’t able to watch the session live?
IMLA will file CLE credits with the state bar for those credits earned while participating in the live webinar within 2-3 weeks after the live event.
  8. Since the recordings will be sent to the member registrants, does that allow for additional CLE opportunities due to being able to watch additional workshops that a member wouldn’t have normally been able to attend due to having to pick only one per time slot?
Yes, if your state can receive CLE credits for On-Demand/recordings. Participants will have until August 31, 2021 to claim credits for IMLA’s 2020 Virtual Annual Conference recordings (all credits must be submitted at one time), 1 report for recordings.
